Lifted from their freshly-announced debut album Container, Brooklyn-based collective and new Council Records signings The Wants have laid down the gauntlet with their mammoth lead track 'The Motor'. Powered by razor-sharp beats, taught guitars strain themselves to breaking point as the overriding sense of tension continues to intensify over the track's 3 minute and 16 second duration. Contrastingly, casually cool vocals are delivered flatly but with attitude, providing some much-needed relief from the abrasive sonic backdrop. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the band, which features members of fellow Brooklyn-based post-punk purveyors Bodega, recall taking inspiration from David Lynch’s acclaimed 1997 neo-noir thriller Lost Highway, resulting in a surreal slice of jagged driving music that'll leave you wanting more.
